Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Awarded Common Criteria Controlled Access Protection Profile Compliance (CAPP/EAL4+)

The Common Criteria Scheme enables consumers to obtain an impartial assessment of an IT product by an independent lab. This impartial assessment, or security evaluation, includes an analysis of the IT product and the testing of the product for conformance to a set of security requirements.

Red Hat continues to pursue higher levels of evaluations. Red Hat and IBM were awarded Controlled Access Protection Profile compliance under the Common Criteria for Information Security Evaluation commonly referred to as CAPP/EAL4+ by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). The evaluation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 was completed by atsec information security on 6 platforms including: IBM xSeries, eServer BladeCenter, zSeries, iSeries, pSeries and Opteron based systems.

Red Hat and HP were awarded Controlled Access Protection Profile compliance under the Common Criteria for Information Security Evaluation commonly referred to as CAPP/EAL3+ by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). The evaluation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 was completed by atsec information security platforms including HP Integrity and HP Proliant systems.

SGI and atsec information security award Common Criteria evaluation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4 on the SGI® Altix® server platform at EAL 3+ with compliance to the Controlled Access Protection Profile (CAPP).
